Mortenax Blade
Nirvana
Mortenax Blade is a Fire Nihility character who scales on Max HP and does a bit of everything. His Ultimate inflicts Balefire Bind on all enemies (−30% DEF, +50% DMG taken) and opens a Zone in which all allies deal 50% more DMG, every ally attack reapplies Balefire Bind and charges his free Follow-Up Skill, and he becomes a death-defying tank who draws enemy attacks. He is a universal support — the best partner Acheron has ever had — and also a strong damage dealer in his own right.

- HP: 6,000+
- CRIT Rate: 100% in combat (Infinite Fury adds 20%)
- CRIT DMG: 130%+
- Effect Hit Rate: 0%, or about 40% with Lies Dance on the Breeze and 67% with Resolution Shines As Pearls of Sweat
- For a pure support, favour SPD over HP and CRIT

Major Trace priority: Bone, Hardened ad Nauseam (A2) > Soul, Tempered ad Mortem (A4) > Heart, Refined ad Infinitum (A6).
Recommended teams
Acheron
His debuffs land on every ally attack and every enemy hit, feeding Acheron nonstop, and with Welt as a second Nihility his A6 gives the whole team +75% Ultimate DMG.
Ashveil dual DPS
His most used team: they feed each other's Follow-Ups, reach 70% DEF reduction on their own, and Hyacine's Max HP buff boosts his damage.
Himeko • Nova
An all-round amplifier for Himeko • Nova, with Welt stacking even more DEF reduction.
How to play
How he works
- Fornax Ex Corpore (Ultimate, 160 Energy). Inflicts Balefire Bind on all enemies: DEF −30% and DMG taken +50% for 2 turns. He then spends 20% of his Max HP to deploy a Zone and enter Infinite Fury: +20% CRIT Rate, +60% CRIT DMG, an enhanced Basic ATK, access to his Skill, and a new Ultimate, Tenax Per Ignem (350% Max HP to all enemies). A countdown with a fixed 70 SPD ends the Zone.
- A Rain of Blades Seals Fate (Skill, Zone only). Spends 10% Max HP to deal 72% Max HP to all enemies plus 4 bounces of 24%. It costs no Skill Points.
- All Karma Comes Due (Talent). While the Zone is active, every ally attack inflicts Balefire Bind on the target and gives him 1 Charge; at 9 Charges he uses his Skill again as a Follow-Up ATK and regenerates 25 Energy.
- Survival. A killing blow during the Zone ends it instead and heals him for 50% of his Max HP. His A4 makes enemies more likely to target him during the Zone, reduces his DMG taken by 50%, raises his Incoming Healing by 50%, and each hit he takes gives 1 Charge and Balefire Bind on the attacker. Both of his Basic ATKs taunt their target for 1 turn.
- Team buff (A6). In the Zone, all allies deal +50% DMG. With another Nihility character in the team, all allies also gain +75% Ultimate DMG; otherwise that +75% DMG goes to him.
- Energy (A2). He can store up to 80 overflow Energy, and his Energy is refilled to 75% at the start of battle and whenever the Zone ends.
Rotation
- Use his Technique: all enemies are taunted for 1 turn and he takes 90% less DMG for 2 turns.
- Open the Zone with Fornax Ex Corpore as early as possible (his A2 starts him at 75% Energy; his signature, Sprightly Vonwacq or an Energy Rope help get it on turn one).
- In the Zone, use his SP-free Skill, let your team's attacks trigger his Follow-Ups, and spend overflow Energy on Tenax Per Ignem.
- When the Zone ends, recast Fornax Ex Corpore.
Tips
- Frequent attackers (Ashveil, Tribbie, Archer…) and Acheron get the most out of him.
- Stacking DEF reduction is very strong, but no more than 100% counts: Ashveil + Mortenax Blade already reach 70%.
- In Elation teams his DMG% bonus doesn't affect Elation DMG, but his DEF reduction and Vulnerability still do.
Strengths
- A true universal support that fits almost every team
- Competitive damage even as a dedicated DPS
- Extremely tanky: high HP, damage reduction, death defiance and a guaranteed taunt
- Huge, easy-to-maintain debuffs: DEF reduction and Vulnerability
- Acheron's best teammate by far
- Excellent Energy economy and good 4★ Light Cone options
Weaknesses
- Takes some practice to play optimally
- Wanted by nearly every team, so he is heavily contested
- His DMG% bonus doesn't help Elation DMG
Notable dupes · Eidolon
−20% All-Type RES on all enemies while the Zone is active, and each Talent Follow-Up delays the Infinite Fury countdown by 15%.
His strongest Eidolon: allies' Ultimates count as Follow-Up ATKs, all Follow-Up DMG +75%, and his Follow-Up only needs 7 Charges.
Extra Charges whenever he takes DMG or spends HP, and Tenax Per Ignem deals 150% of its original DMG.
