The Swordsman Who Became a Blade
Blade is a Wind Destruction damage dealer who hurts himself to hurt his enemies. Since his 3.4 rework, all of his damage scales on Max HP: his Skill trades HP for enhanced Blast Basic ATKs, every hit he takes charges an AoE Follow-up ATK that heals him, and his Ultimate cashes in the HP he has lost. He is sturdy, draws enemy attacks and barely uses Skill Points.

Main stats
Substat priority
Stat targets
- HP: 6,000–7,200+
- CRIT Rate: 80–100% in combat (Longevous Disciple adds up to 16%)
- CRIT DMG: 150–180%+
- SPD: 135, or 1 SPD faster than your action-advance support
- DEF: 800–900+
Talent priority
Major Trace priority: Cyclone of Destruction (A6) > Neverending Deaths (A4) > Vita Infinita (A2). Leave SPD substats aside once you reach your breakpoint and focus on CRIT and HP%.
Recommended teams
Hypercarry
His best team: Sunday gives him extra turns, DMG and Energy while barely competing for Skill Points, Tribbie adds RES PEN and AoE damage, and Hyacine's Max HP buff and heals multiply his damage.
Sub-DPS for Castorice
Blade thrives next to Castorice: her Skill drains his HP, which charges his Talent, and the healing she needs keeps him topped up.
Budget
Accessible option: Bronya advances his turns (some of her ATK buffs are wasted on him), the Trailblazer (Remembrance) adds CRIT DMG and True DMG, and Lynx heals him and raises his chance of being attacked.
How to play
How he works
- Hellscape (Skill). Consumes 30% of his Max HP to enter Hellscape for 3 turns: +40% DMG, a much higher chance of being attacked, and his Basic ATK becomes Forest of Swords (consumes 10% Max HP, deals 130% of his Max HP to the target and 52% to adjacent enemies). The Skill doesn't end his turn and doesn't generate Energy.
- Shuhu's Gift (Talent). Blade gains 1 Charge each time he takes DMG or consumes HP (at most 1 per enemy attack). At 5 Charges, he launches an AoE Follow-up ATK for 130% of his Max HP and heals 25% of his Max HP; his A6 adds +20% DMG and 15 extra Energy to it.
- Death Sentence (Ultimate, 130 Energy). Sets his HP to 50% of his Max HP, then deals 150% of his Max HP plus 120% of his HP loss tally to the target (60% + 60% to adjacent enemies). The tally is capped at 90% of his Max HP.
- Traces. His A2 keeps half of the tally after each Ultimate, and his A4 raises his incoming healing by 20% and adds 25% of every heal he receives to the tally, so his Ultimate stays close to full power.
Rotation
- Open with his Technique: it consumes 20% of his HP and hits all enemies.
- Use his Skill to enter Hellscape, then attack with Forest of Swords in the same turn.
- Keep using Forest of Swords for 3 turns and reuse his Skill as soon as Hellscape ends.
- Use his Ultimate when it's ready. Casting it at high HP consumes HP (more Charges), while casting it at low HP heals him back to 50%.
Tips
- Avoid shields: Preservation sustains stop him from losing HP, which starves his Ultimate's HP loss tally. Both sites only pair him with healers, Hyacine above all.
- Aim for 135 SPD, or 1 SPD faster than your action-advance support (Sunday, Bronya).
- He only spends 1 Skill Point per Hellscape, leaving plenty for Skill-hungry supports like Sunday or Bronya.
- Hellscape greatly raises his aggro, but it isn't a Taunt: your other characters can still be targeted.
Strengths
- Consistent damage in every mode, with real AoE from his Follow-up ATK
- Excellent self-sustain and very hard to kill
- Extremely Skill Point-efficient
- Works as a main DPS or as a sub-DPS
- Draws enemy attacks away from fragile teammates
Weaknesses
- Outpaced by the newest damage dealers: rarely used in 4.5's hardest content
- Needs heavy investment to shine
- Doesn't work with shield-based sustains
Notable dupes · Eidolon
His Enhanced Basic ATK and Ultimate deal extra DMG to the main target equal to 150% of the HP loss tally: with a full tally, Forest of Swords hits the main target twice as hard.
+15% CRIT Rate during Hellscape, which frees up substats. Game8's recommended stopping point.
His Talent only needs 4 Charges, and its Follow-up ATK deals an extra 50% of his Max HP.
