Release3.2

A sleep-deprived astrology student from the Rtawahist, Layla is a 4-star Cryo shielder. Her Curtain of Slumber scales with Max HP and fires homing Shooting Stars that apply Cryo from off-field, and her Skill hits keep Tenacity of the Millelith running for the whole team. She is a great budget pick for Cryo and Freeze teams, including Skirk's all-4-star lineup.

Teams

Recommended teams

Skirk with 4-star supports

A full budget Freeze team: Layla shields and applies Cryo, Candace and Xingqiu bring Hydro.

Skirk budget with Furina

Furina is the only premium support; Charlotte heals for her Fanfare and Layla prevents interruptions.

Mono Cryo Ganyu

Layla's shield lets Ganyu charge her shots safely, while Shenhe and Kazuha buff Cryo DMG.

Guide

How to play

How she works

  • Nights of Formal Focus (Skill, 12s CD) deals AoE Cryo DMG and creates the Curtain of Slumber, a 12s shield based on her Max HP that absorbs Cryo DMG with 250% effectiveness.
  • The shield gains a Night Star every 1.5s, plus 2 when the protected character uses a Skill. At 4 Night Stars, they turn into homing Shooting Stars that deal Cryo DMG and generate Energy particles.
  • Dream of the Star-Stream Shaker (Burst, 40 Energy, 12s) summons a Celestial Dreamsphere whose Starlight Slugs deal Cryo DMG and add Night Stars to the shield.
  • Like Nascent Light: each Night Star grants +6% Shield Strength (up to +24%). Sweet Slumber Undisturbed: Shooting Stars deal extra DMG equal to 1.5% of her Max HP.

Rotation

  1. Q, then E: the Burst immediately feeds Night Stars into the fresh shield.
  2. Swap to your carry. Recast E every 12s, as soon as the shield expires.

Casting the shield right before your carry's Skill adds 2 Night Stars at once, so the first Shooting Stars come out faster.

Strengths

  • Strong, near-permanent shield on a short 12s cooldown
  • Off-field Cryo application for Freeze, Melt and Superconduct
  • Keeps Tenacity of the Millelith's party ATK buff up almost all the time
  • Cheap 40-Energy Burst, and C2 slashes her Energy needs

Weaknesses

  • No healing: she does not replace a healer against strong enemies
  • Low personal damage
  • High Energy Recharge needs as the only Cryo unit before C2
  • Her Cryo can get in the way of some reactions, such as forward Vaporize
