Hugo Vlad is an Ice Attack Agent built around burst damage in Stun windows. When the finishing move of his EX Special Attack or Ultimate hits a Stunned enemy, it triggers Totalize: a massive multiplier boost that grows with the Stun time remaining, then ends the Stun and refunds part of the Daze. He gains up to 900 ATK with two Stunners in the squad, so he's usually played in double-Stun teams.

S · CRIT Rate
Best in slot, used by nearly 99% of players on Prydwen: CRIT Rate main stat, +45% CRIT DMG, and his Ice EX Special, Chain Attack and Ultimate ignore 25% of DEF for 3s.
CRIT DMG +45%; dealing Ice DMG with an EX Special, Chain Attack or Ultimate lets hits ignore 25% of DEF for 3s.
Cordis Germina
S · CRIT Rate
Seed's signature: a huge amount of CRIT Rate, and its DEF ignore on Ultimates applies to Ultimate Totalizes. Strong in Dialyn teams, where he gets an Ultimate almost every Stun.
CRIT Rate +15%; Basic and EX Special Attacks stack Electric DMG +12.5% for 40s (up to 2); at 2 stacks, Basic Attack and Ultimate DMG ignore 20% of DEF.
Heartstring Nocturne
S · CRIT Rate
Pure CRIT stat stick (CRIT Rate main stat, +50% CRIT DMG) with no upkeep.
CRIT DMG +50%; entering combat, Chain Attacks and Ultimates grant Heartstring (up to 2), each letting Chain Attacks and Ultimates ignore 12.5% of Fire RES.
Deep Sea Visitor
S · CRIT Rate
Ellen's signature, Game8's second choice: CRIT Rate main stat and +25% Ice DMG.
Ice DMG +25%; Basic Attack hits grant CRIT Rate +10% for 8s, and Ice Dash Attacks another +10% for 15s.
Steel Cushion
S · CRIT Rate
Standard S-Rank: his EX Special ends behind the enemy, so Totalizes easily benefit from its back-attack bonus. Interrupt the EX Special with his Ultimate to get the same repositioning.
Physical DMG +20%, and +25% DMG when hitting enemies from behind.
Marcato Desire
A · CRIT Rate
Best A-Rank: CRIT Rate main stat and ATK buffs from EX Specials and Chain Attacks, doubled against Anomaly-afflicted enemies (Freeze helps).
EX Special Attack and Chain Attack hits raise ATK by 6% for 8s, or 12% if the target suffers an Attribute Anomaly.

Hormone Punk ×4
Polar Metal ×2
Prydwen's pick: he only comes in for his Stun burst and Totalize ends the Stun early, so Hormone Punk's +25% ATK covers his whole burst.

Teams

Recommended teams

Double Stun: Lighter & Lycaon

His most used Shiyu Defense team. Two Stunners give him the full +900 ATK, Lighter boosts Ice DMG and extends Stuns, and Lycaon lowers Ice RES. Trigger can replace either of them. Recommended Bangboo: Robin, which, with Hugo in the squad, fires only damage cards while an Attack Agent is on field and only Daze cards while a Stunner is.

Double Stun: Dialyn & Lighter

His most used Deadly Assault team and Prydwen's reference team for W-Engine calculations. Dialyn's Ultimate conversions give him an Ultimate Totalize almost every Stun, which is where the Puffer Electro build shines. Norma is another strong Stunner for him. Recommended Bangboo: Robin.

Accessible: Lycaon & Soukaku

A standard S-Rank and an A-Rank. With only one Stunner he gets +300 ATK instead of 900, but Prydwen notes he still performs well thanks to Soukaku's ATK and Ice DMG buffs. Recommended Bangboo: Sharkboo, whose Chain Attack builds much more Anomaly with two Ice Agents, for more Freezes.

Guide

How to play

Totalize

  • The finishing move of EX Special Attack: Soul Hunter - Punishment or Ultimate: Blaspheme on a Stunned enemy triggers Totalize: +1,000% to its DMG multiplier, plus +280% per second of Stun left (up to 5s) and +100% per second between 5 and 15s, for a maximum of +3,400%.
  • Totalize ends the Stun immediately, but adds 5% Daze per second that was left (up to 25% of the enemy's Daze bar). The sooner you trigger it, the harder it hits.
  • Dark Abyss Reverb: his Chain Attack or stunning an enemy gives him +12% CRIT Rate and +25% CRIT DMG for 6s.
  • His Core Passive gives +300 ATK with one Stun Agent in the squad and +900 with two.
  • Additional Ability (with a Stun or Ice teammate): Chain Attack DMG +15% (+35% more against normal enemies) and Totalize DMG +40%.

Stun burst (Prydwen)

  1. Trigger the Chain Attack with a teammate, then Hugo's Chain Attack.
  2. Cancel, swap out, and trigger another Chain Attack to get a second Hugo Chain Attack (Double Chain).
  3. Finish with his EX Special or Ultimate to trigger Totalize.
  • Skip the second Chain Attack when time is short. Swapping out right after the EX Special also lets a Stunner Chain Attack land just as the Stun ends, for extra Daze.
  • Out of Stun, leave the field to your Stunners. If they can't stay on field, fill time with his Basic Attack chains (Dark Abyss Quartet into Concerto, with charged shots).

His EX Special and Ultimate aren't heavy attacks, so they can't trigger a new Stun themselves.

Strengths

  • Huge burst damage in every Stun window, on par with top DPS against bosses.
  • Totalize refunds Daze, so the next Stun comes faster.
  • Very little field time: perfect for double-Stun teams that free up Support slots.
  • Extra buffs against normal enemies, handy in Shiyu Defense.

Weaknesses

  • Relies on specific limited Stunners that also buff him (Lighter, Trigger, Dialyn).
  • Double Chains take practice, and his damage drops noticeably without them.
  • Leans heavily on his signature W-Engine, which almost every Hugo player uses.
