Physical
The Hunt
Boothill
Cyborg Cowboy
Boothill is a Physical Hunt Break damage dealer and one of the best single-target breakers in the game. His Skill locks him into a Standoff with one enemy, turning his Basic ATK into Fanning the Hammer; every Weakness Break or kill grants a Pocket Trickshot stack, which boosts his Toughness damage and adds huge extra Break DMG against broken targets. He excels in Apocalyptic Shadow, but struggles in Pure Fiction.

Main stats
Substat priority
Stat targets
- SPD: 145 (activates Talia), then 160 or even 200
- Break Effect: 260–340%
- HP: 2,900–3,200
Talent priority
Major Trace priority (Prydwen): Above Snakes (A4) > Point Blank (A6) > Ghost Load (A2); Game8 starts with Ghost Load for its CRIT conversion. Body and sphere barely affect his Break DMG, so HP% is a fine defensive choice there.
Recommended teams
Super Break
His best team: with Fugue he can earn up to 3 Pocket Trickshots in one attack and breaks twice per target, The Dahlia adds Weakness Break Efficiency, Break Effect and DEF reduction, and Ruan Mei boosts everything he cares about.
Super Break with healer
Safer version: Lingsha heals, cleanses and makes enemies take more Break DMG.
Accessible Break
The free Trailblazer (Harmony) adds Super Break and Break Effect, Ruan Mei boosts Break efficiency, and Gallagher heals while generating Skill Points.
How to play
How he works
- Sizzlin' Tango (Skill). Puts Boothill and one enemy in a Standoff for 2 turns: the enemy is Taunted and takes 30% more DMG from him (he takes 15% more from it), and his Basic ATK becomes Fanning the Hammer. Using the Skill doesn't end his turn.
- Five Peas in a Pod (Talent). Breaking or defeating the Standoff target grants a Pocket Trickshot stack (up to 3) and ends the Standoff. Each stack raises Fanning the Hammer's Toughness reduction by 50%, and hitting a Weakness-Broken target with it deals extra Break DMG equal to 70%/120%/170% of his Physical Break DMG (the Toughness counted is capped at 16 times the Toughness reduction of his regular Basic ATK). Stacks are kept between battles.
- Dust Devil's Sunset Rodeo (Ultimate, 115 Energy). Implants Physical Weakness on one enemy for 2 turns, deals damage and delays its action by 40%.
- Traces. Ghost Load (A2) converts 10%/50% of his Break Effect into CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG (up to 30%/150%), Above Snakes (A4) reduces the DMG he takes from enemies outside the Standoff by 30%, and Point Blank (A6) gives him 10 Energy per Pocket Trickshot gained in a Standoff.
Rotation
- Use his Technique: his first Skill in the next battle also implants Physical Weakness.
- Skill on a target (his turn continues), then Fanning the Hammer until it breaks to earn a Pocket Trickshot.
- Once he has 3 stacks, aim his Standoffs at elites and bosses. Use his Ultimate to implant Physical Weakness on enemies that lack it (Fugue and The Dahlia also let him ignore Weakness types).
Tips
- He is a single-target specialist: great in Apocalyptic Shadow, poor in Pure Fiction.
- Fanning the Hammer doesn't recover Skill Points, so his rotation is SP-hungry.
- Base ATK and offensive stats barely matter: Break Effect and SPD are all he needs, which leaves room for defensive main stats.
- Enemies that lock their Toughness bars are his biggest weakness.
Strengths
- Outstanding single-target Break damage
- Huge Toughness damage every turn
- Implants Physical Weakness with his Ultimate and Technique
- Needs little ATK or CRIT, so he can be built defensively
- His Ultimate's action delay helps the team survive
- Many good, accessible teammates
Weaknesses
- Needs to ramp up his Pocket Trickshot stacks
- Big drop-off without his signature Light Cone
- Struggles against enemies that lock their Toughness bars
- Almost useless in Pure Fiction
Notable dupes · Eidolon
Starts each battle with a Pocket Trickshot and ignores 16% of enemies' DEF.
Each Pocket Trickshot gained in a Standoff recovers 1 Skill Point and grants +30% Break Effect for 2 turns.
The Standoff target takes 12% more DMG from him, and his own DMG taken increase is reduced by 12%.
His Talent's Break DMG hits harder and splashes onto adjacent enemies.
