Valkyrie Boltstorm is Helia's A-rank MECH-type Lightning battlesuit, the first Rapid-Shot Crossbow user, protected by World Star. She rapid-fires bolts, marks enemies with an explosive device and gives the team big Elemental and Lightning DMG buffs plus Paralyze Trauma. She is free to farm, which makes her a decent budget third support for World Star DPS (Deepspace Anchor, Schicksal's Imperative, Thousand-Faced Maestro, Herrscher of Rebirth), but she loses to S-rank supports and is almost absent from top teams in v9.0.

Marisa Impact's pick: she does not rely on it, but it provides around 20% of the team's damage. It comes from the Equipment Supply (it was also a limited-time choice in the v7.8 Part 2 Chapter V missions), and its synergy upgrades are in the Asterite Shop.
Valkyrie Boltstorm's signature crossbow: +20% Lightning DMG, stacking Total DMG on weapon skill hits, more weapon skill Lightning DMG in Stellar Outburst and, on her, a Lightning vulnerability after Targeted Bombardment; synergy copies give the team up to 12% Elemental DMG.

How to play

Core loop

  • Her Rapid Shot Energy caps at 200 and starts at 80. Basic ATK restores 20 per hit, Ultimate Evasion 40, and her QTE fills it completely.
  • With a partial gauge, tap Weapon to throw an Explosive Device (200% ATK): the first enemy hit gets Homing Blast and explodes after 7 hits from the team (600% ATK). Tap ATK right after for a 7-hit follow-up that restores 30 energy and triggers Homing Blast immediately.
  • With a full gauge, tap Weapon to enter Rapid Shot (45% ATK per bolt, 3 energy each). When the gauge drops below 30, tap ATK to exit with Targeted Bombardment (600% ATK AoE, knocks enemies airborne). Both count as Weapon Skill DMG.
  • Targeted Bombardment and her Ultimate give the team Thunder Surge (+25% Elemental DMG, +15% more Lightning DMG, 25s). Her Ultimate (2,000% ATK) also inflicts Thunder Tangle (enemies take 20% more Elemental DMG and 12% more Lightning DMG) and restores 3 Intensity.

Astral Ring (World Star)

  • During Astral Ring Charging, Targeted Bombardment consumes her Stellar Drain.
  • In Stellar Outburst she fires faster and can leave Rapid Shot at any time; Targeted Bombardment spends her Quantum Mech Energy as a Resonance attack, and her first Rapid Shot throws an Explosive Device that leaves a Domain Resonance Mark (chain lightning, 4 triggers).
  • From S rank, entering Stellar Outburst gives the team Thunder Surge and inflicts Thunder Tangle, both 20% stronger, and enemies take 6% more Total DMG from Resonance.

How to use her

  • Marisa Impact's loop: enter Stellar Outburst, press Weapon to start Rapid Shot and let her fire; to refill, press Weapon then Basic ATK (follow-up). During Astral Ring Charging, repeat the refill and Rapid Shot until the ring is full again.
  • The Elysian Realm 'infinite Rapid Shot' playstyle (picking up reload drops) skips the Outburst animation but is weaker.

Strengths

  • Free to farm (Asterite Shop, Open World task, Battlesuit Supply), her stigmata can be forged and her crossbow's synergy upgrades are sold in the Asterite Shop.
  • Big team buffs for Lightning and Elemental DMG dealers, plus Paralyze Trauma from S rank.
  • Genius Pioneer's 3-piece gives her teammates up to 40% Total DMG per stack consumed, and her high hit count stacks it quickly.
  • Short, simple rotation that fits any World Star team as a filler.

Weaknesses

  • Loses to S-rank supports and is virtually absent from the CN top 100 Abyss teams since v8.0.
  • Only useful in World Star teams.
  • Her Paralyze Trauma and Stellar Outburst team buffs require S rank.
  • You have to sit through the Stellar Outburst animation for her strongest playstyle.
