Genshin Impact 7.2 quality-of-life changes: Specialty Tracking, friends-only Prime Ice Constructs, Ley Line enemy preview

On October 29, 2026, HoYoverse published "Version 7.2: Paimon's Version Update Notes", the official list of quality-of-life changes coming with the Version 7.2 "Hour of Ruin" update on November 4, 2026. Here is what changes for players.

Specialty Tracking: the minimap marks the right specialty

Specialty Tracking before / after the update (official infographic)

  • Before: while tracking a Local Specialty (the official example is Glaze Lily), the minimap sometimes pointed to a nearby Silk Flower instead.
  • After the update: as long as your party has a character who can display nearby Local Specialties, tracking a specific Local Specialty makes the minimap prioritize markers for that specialty.

Prime Ice Constructs: a friends-only option

  • A new "Only Friends" option is added to the sending and receiving permissions of Prime Ice Constructs ("Prime Ice Construct Permission Settings": Everyone / Only Friends / Don't Allow). You can choose to receive constructs only from your friends, and to share yours only with them.
  • Prime Ice Constructs will no longer be sent to areas around Statues of The Seven, Adventurers' Guilds, blacksmiths or Meeting Points: no more accidental interactions there.
  • The batch deletion limit in "Manage Prime Ice Constructs" goes from 100 to 200.

Ley Line Outcrops: preview the enemy lineup

  • After the update, select a Ley Line Outcrop on the map to see the opponents' details (the official screenshot shows a Lv. 85 "Icy Crystal: Frostnight Scion") and plan a counter team in advance.

New areas: Novokitezhgrad and Wingspan Peak

Wingspan Peak and the Shadow Realm (official infographic)

  • In Version 7.2, the Traveler explores Novokitezhgrad and Wingspan Peak. Parts of Wingspan Peak have already been engulfed by the Shadow Realm.
  • After completing the "An Ancient Song of Flowing Crystal and Stone Chests" quest chain, the Shadow Realm in the eastern part of Wingspan Peak recedes: you can then explore it with any characters in your party.
Tip

The new tracking priority only works if your party includes a character who can display nearby Local Specialties: keep one in your farming team when you gather ascension materials for the new characters from November 4.
